When event management company Heaps + Stacks got in touch with us to work on a pop-up takeover event at the Television Centre, we couldn’t wait to hear what they had planned. Following a year of global travel restrictions due to the pandemic, they wanted to transform the outdoor social space into a slice of holiday.
To help bring that warm glow of the holiday sun to White City, we transformed their outdoor space into a sun-themed al-fresco terrace with a combination of lighting, bespoke set pieces and an intense injection of colour.
MAKING A STATEMENT
We constructed an Aztec-inspired arch to welcome guests into the terrace area. Fabricated from a metal framework, painted in warm orange tones and then fitted with LED strips. The perfect piece to add that summer feeling to the space.
BASKING IN THE LED
Fitted like a canopy of miniature suns, we installed sixty LED spheres spray lacquered an ombre of oranges to the roof of the pergolas. These glowing balls cast a soft hue of warm light throughout the terrace.
AN INJECTION OF COLOUR
It’s incredible how transformational paint can be. To ensure the entire space carried the sun theme and immersed the terrace into that slice of holiday, we painted the planters and alternative legs of the existing pergola in that warm orange we had used throughout the event.
We all know how unpredictable the British Summertime weather can be, so there was always a fear that on the day of installation, the heavens may open and the painting of the pergola legs and planters may have to come to a halt. Thankfully the sun shone for just the right amount of time for us to get the job done.
